Several Egg Hunts Planned

At least seven area egg hunts have been organized by local groups for the weekend including the largest event, which is in St. Maries. Tree of Memories an Annual Tradition

It’s a holiday tradition filled with sentiment. The Hospice Tree of Memories is up at the Benewah County Courthouse, and ribbons can be purchased at the auditor’s office or at Hospice. The tree is decorated with the names of loved ones who have died and a memorial service is held each December; this year’s ceremony is Dec. 19.

Decorating Downtown

With various holidays coming up, members of the chamber have decided to make things more festive this year with more decorations. Shirley Ackerman and Sue Shoemaker decorated various corners and islands in the downtown St. Maries with festive fall items. Hay bales, scarecrows and cornstalks can be seen set up along Main Avenue. The St. Maries Ministerial Association has organized special services for Easter celebration this year. A community Good Friday Service will be 6:30 p.m. Friday at the St. Maries Assembly of God Church. The keynote speaker will be the Rev. The sounds of the holiday season abound in St. Maries.

Several local groups are preparing to fill the halls of St. Mareis with the sounds of the season. Saturday is the second annual community Christmas concert. The St. Maries community band and community choir will perform. The concert features holiday tunes, sing-a-longs and a few special performances.
