Leslee Finishes a Chapter

Leslee Adams has been the face of the St. Maries Public Library as the lead librarian for 16 years. And before she was hired for that position she served as assistant librarian for nine years. This summer, Mrs. Adams will retire after having worked for 25 years at the local library. “It’s just time,” she said. Mrs. Adams will step down from the position at the end of July. She said the library board is working on a job description […]

Calling all Wordsmiths

Area children are encouraged to enter a local story-writing contest. The Wordless Book, a story writing contest sponsored by the St. Maries Public Library in honor of Children’s Book Week, will run May 4-15. Contestants must write a story to go along with one of the picture books that will be made available at the local library. Annual Book Sale at Library Saturday

After a decade, the St. Maries Friends of the Library Book Sale continues to grow. This year’s sale is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 8) at the library. Paperback books cost 25¢ and hard covered are $1. The sale started with an idea and a handful of people. After a year of collection and two months of sorting, books disappeared by the bagful within just a few hours. It has become so popular that since 2009 the […]

The St. Maries Public Library will offer a summer of scientific wonder and will offer two weekly sessions every Tuesday from June 24 to July 29. Story hour for three, four and five year […]

You can always call ’em, of course – the city staff members are super nice and always willing to help, but now information like water rates, dog license information and even city pool and library hours can be accessed whenever you feel like it. There’s also a subscription […]

Because you can’t spell community without L.I.B.R.A.R.Y.

Okay, so the post title is a bit of a stretch, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Figuratively, at least. Local libraries and the community outreach they provide are vital to large cities and small towns alike. Maybe especially the small towns. Take ours, for example. The St. Maries Public Library offers gobs of kid- and family-oriented events throughout the year, including its weekly mainstay, story hour. The hour-long activity is every Tuesday from 10 – 11 a.m. […]
