Christmas help available

For most families, Christmas is a joyous time. For others, however, it can be a struggle.

There are several charitable efforts in our area that help to bridge the gap that some budgets leave. Applications are now being accepted by the Christmas Families Coalition, which provides gifts for children 18 years and younger who have an address in Worley, Plummer, Tensed or DeSmet.

The Coalition also provides food and other items to families who are in need during the holidays. This is the seventh year for the effort.

Applications will be accepted through November 21. Applications can be picked up and returned to the following locations: Worley City Hall, the Food Distribution Warehouse, Plummer City Hall, The Big Store in Tensed and the post office in DeSmet.

Individuals, families, businesses, clubs, and churches can “adopt a family” and buy gifts for the children, donate money for the purchase of gifts or donate food or other needed items such as non-perishable food items not yet expired, new or unopened household necessities like toilet paper, cleaning supplies, shampoo, soap and more.

If your family, club, church, or business would like to participate in helping this year, call Emily Bell at (208) 686-0106.
